Grouse and Woodcock Hunting in the North Maine Woods. Over 3.5 million acres of prime ruffed grouse and woodcock habitat in the North Maine Woods working woodland.  Known as the King of all game birds, Ruffed Grouse hunting here permeates that. Fine grouse dogs will make your North Maine Woods Grouse Hunting memorable. I focus on the quality of the hunt, fair chase, great dog work, and FUN! I am a family-friendly Professional Guide who welcomes young, old, and beginning hunters alike.

If you have dogs, I encourage you to bring them for a North Maine Woods Grouse hunt. This is a prime area for bird contacts on wild grouse. It is sure to make a new puppy or seasoned old veteran excited and happy to start every day. I am happy to help you and your dog learn the ins and outs of hunting grouse in northern Maine.

Our ruffed grouse are known for how long they hold before flushing for a dog or walking grouse hunter. Dogs pointing the birds so close that they can hold for a photo op of the dog with the grouse in the photo are not uncommon.  This by no means translates to these being lesser quarry than Ruffed Grouse elsewhere.  These birds will hold very tight but notoriously also run from dog and Sport like wild North Dakota Pheasant in the open prairie.

The North Maine Woods is the best of Maine Grouse and Woodcock Hunting’s heaven of habitat. With hundreds of miles of gravel roads, alder runs and hardwood ridges allow access to the best Maine Grouse Hunting. Opportunities abound for hunting over dogs, and coverts are suitable for both pointing and flushing breeds.

We hope to share a day with you very soon!
