Beginning the Journey, The book...
The big announcement I have promised is now official.
The book is in the works! The first two chapters have been submitted for editing, and I press forward!
A project that started from the grief of my mother’s passing years ago became stagnant in emotional toil. I was unable to move it forward.
The direction of the initial project has developed a different path, yet one that allows me to write and share the many loves my parents gave me.
Love of food, ‘food is love’ as Koreans will say often. It is a principle of sharing for Koreans. It is also something my father knew all too well, being the oldest of four siblings during the Great Depression when many had so little.
Love of the Outdoors and the bounty that God provides for us there.
Love of God. The seeds planted grew to save me when nothing else could.
Combining these gifts of love and experience with them will bring forth a ‘cookbook meets storybook’ of Korean and American traditional and fusion recipes for a harvest-to-table experience. I hope you will all love it as much as I love producing it.
I have put forth much thought, time, and prayer, and all roads have led me to the commitment to “write the book.”
As I followed the path to create this upcoming work, a prospective publisher(and friend) said, “What is your plan for this? What is it you want to accomplish? How many copies? etc.”
Almost instantly, the answer I had was, “It really doesn’t matter to me if I don’t sell one copy. If I can honor my father and mother and my God, mission accomplished!” I am sure that was not inspiring for his business model, yet he said, “Remembering your mom and the food she fed us, I get it. I’m in!”
The Lord does work in mysterious ways 🙂
May God Bless each and every one of you, and keep your hearts and tables full! Let’s do this!
As Miss Mary would always say, ‘Jal meok ge sseum ni da’ 잘 먹겠습니다 , EAT WELL MY FRIENDS!
Remember to Always put lots of Love in your food!
